Why tell the truth when a clever lie can help?

It takes courage to speak the truth. But it takes imagination , attitude and wit to come up with an alternative line of thought that makes the truth seem trite.
Clever lies...Isn't this , what the politicians have been telling for long? Indeed, in the final moments of election, the politicians seem to display greater agility of mind and intellectual brilliance than they ever do in office. We get the account of their work only during the elections.
If excuse brings out the best in us its because we have such long practice in creating them. We have been hard-wired to find innovative ways of sidestepping blame. Right from the tender age when we had to provide mumma with plausible reasons as to how that glass pale broke or at school when we played pun with reasons for unfinished homework and unlearnt formulae or at college for short attendance and giving the mid sems for mere fun ,we have had a good track record of escaping blame single-handedly and coming up with ambiguous excuses!
In the years since then , that part of the brain that forms excuses has been regularly exercised and toned.
Some people have it much easier. The municipal corporation's explanation for the state of our city roads stays unchanged year after year. The potholes , we are told, are caused by a phenomenon called 'monsoon' . A clever excuse indeed !
And why not come up with clever excuses when you have got  the wit to nail it ! When the needle of suspicion swings in a wide arc and comes to rest pointing in your direction , it is embarrassing to have nothing to say ! :D
But win , loose or tie , a good excuse will certainly help you add to the gaiety of life. When you are old enough , you could sit on a chair and remember those moments when you've given funny and intellectual reasons to save yourself from blames that hardly mattered !
All in all ,

Lets never have an excuse for not having an excuse! :D
